Why You Need To Watch Reckless Behavior: The Series

Watching young, Black creatives bring their ideas to life is inspiring and is why you need to watch Reckless Behavior: The Web Series.

Watching young, Black creatives bring their ideas to life is so inspiring and is exactly why you need to watch Reckless Behavior: The Series to support the next generation of storytellers.

Reckless Behavior The Series (RBTS) is a digital series created by Michaela P. Shelton. RBTS dives into the story of Michaela Holloway, a post college black millennial and aspiring writer, who tries to navigate through life attempting to find herself and avoid reckless behavior.

When I heard about Reckless Behavior: The Series, I knew I had to add it to my watch list. Aside from Issa Rae’s Insecure, there’s a major void to be filled when comes to millennial centered content on television.

About the series

Michaela tells us the purpose of her web series is “ to create something for us and by us that promotes the beauty and culture of the Bay Area [California]. Its dual purpose is to bring to life the Reckless Behavior blog series that was created four years ago.”

The creator stays true to her purpose throughout the web series. We see this in the main character’s friend group, who are unique and true to their Blackness and we get a glimpse of the Bay Area throughout the series.

With 8 episodes and about 10 mins per episode, it’s a quick viewing and is free to view on Youtube or on their website, Queen Media Collective.

RBTS is taking the internet by storm

Since its YouTube release earlier this year, the web series has accumulated over 20k views! In addition to Youtube, it’s now available on the Fearless App. RBTS was also screened at the 28th Annual Pan African Film and Arts Festival, the largest and most prestigious black film festival in America.

It’s no shock that this web series has taken the internet by storm. The series focuses on real millennial issues: guy drama, balancing friendships, online dating, and the struggle that comes with following your passion.

In the many situations Michaela found herself in, such as quitting her 9 – 5 job to focus her true passion and dealing with a troubling ex-boyfriend, I related to her instantly. I mostly enjoyed her group of friends, who were always down to party and had her back when it came to her ex-boyfriend.

The great news is that there’s going to be season two of the RBTS in 2021! Don’t wait until next year to hop on the RBTS fan wave. Check out the first episode below, Reckless Temptations, and you won’t regret it.

A nice day in Alameda quickly goes left when Michaela is on the verge of a breakdown and Benjamin makes an irrational decision.
